CVCS Appoints New Music and Artistic Director for 2026-2027 Season

Westlake Village, California — May 2, 2026 — The Conejo Valley Choral Society (CVCS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Franco Basili as its new Music and Artistic Director, marking an exciting new chapter for one of the region’s premier choral organizations.


Dr. Basili brings a dynamic blend of international experience, academic excellence, and artistic leadership to CVCS. Born and raised in Argentina, he currently serves as Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choirs at California Lutheran University. He holds a Doctorate in Choral Conducting from the University of Houston, a Master of Music in Choral Pedagogy from Carthage College, and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Choral Conducting and Piano Pedagogy from the Conservatorio de Música “Isaías Orbe” in Tandil, Argentina.

Prior to his work in the United States, Dr. Basili served as Artistic Director of the Chamber Choir of the National University of Mar del Plata, Director of Laprida’s Children Choir, and Assistant Conductor of the Coro Estable de Tandil. Since relocating to the U.S., he has held several distinguished roles, including Rehearsal Conductor for the Houston Symphony Chorus, Choral Conductor Intern with the Grammy Award-winning Houston Chamber Choir, Director of the Chancel Choir at Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston, and Director of the University Chorus at the University of Houston.

The Board of Directors is looking forward to working closely with Dr. Basili to grow CVCS, deepen our partnerships within the Conejo Valley community, and develop a stunning new season of performances of classical choral masterworks."


Under Dr. Basili’s leadership, the organization aims to expand its reach, elevate its performance profile, and continue delivering transformative choral experiences to audiences across the region.
